the new living room

As you might have seen in my recent YT video, I got the insane urge to update the living room. I wanted it to be a space where I could come home and be sure that it reflects my personal style and became a spot where I could gain inspiration--have some wine after a long day and host friends in. Read more to see how I transformed my space.

the feline that is making waves in the art world

Christiane Spansberg, or known in my head as the feline that is making ultimate waves in the art world, is one inspiring woman. I was never a fan of art until I stumbled across her Instagram account (a true millennial story) and fell in love with not only her beautiful works but her way of life as well. Yes, art can be intimidating, but her signature drawings and paintings make one feel at ease and as if they can connect to it, because we can.

flash series

Playing around on a gloomy day with my camera turned into capturing little bits of my room, with the flash on. Yes, it makes everything look a whole lot dirtier, but I ended up loving the rawness of these photos, it was almost dream-like in a weird way.

new interiors: the antique mirror

It's been on 2 or 3 of my inspiration boards..obviously I have been a little obsessed with a French, antique, gold-framed mirror for the past couple of months now and I am so happy to say you guys won't hear me obsessing about it any longer. Well, you probably will, since now I have one sitting actually sitting on my vanity table...

interior dreams

Hi guys! I promise this is my last post talking about interiors before I can actually share what I did with my space hahaha, I know it's been so long! I just am stuck in maybe a little creative rut but I am slowly getting out of it, and, of course, going on Pinterest is helping me and providing me with the room inspiration I've been looking for. I have been browsing on Harpers Project and cannot wait to show you guys the pieces a part of our collaboration, too, which will be coming soon. As I mentioned in my latest inspirations post, I have been really getting into the mid century modern look and simplistic design approach. Of course as our styles change, our interior tastes move along with it! I do find myself still being obsessed with neutrals, woods, and marbles, which makes me feel good because that is the style I have always loved. For my new space I am thinking tons of light, white, marble surfaces, plain candles, and little plant decor (of course). I put together a little Polyvore set just to hone in on those focuses and give you guys a peep as to my thought process. Being in this small room does not let me have as much creative freedom as I want, but hopefully I can move some things around and make it work! The living room could definitely use some redecorating as well, but I plan on waiting until I have an established living space to do that. So, until then, making up my room it is! Let me know what you think!

That's just a little bit of the vibe I've been feelin'! Stay tuned for my collaboration with the Harpers Project site, can't wait to show you guys the new pieces I'll be putting in my room! Of course it will take time and you might not see the finished product for a little, but by summer I hope it is everything I have been daydreaming about. Let me know what style you've been admiring lately, I would love to hear!

latest inspirations; spring

Around every month or so I love putting together what is inspiring me currently; whether it be in fashion, interiors, books, etc. My inspirations haven't changed that much since the last inspiration post I did, but I love how much it helps me in personally having a focus in the kind of mood I've been into lately so I decided to throw one up today! To put it simply I have been adoring...

new in: beauty tray

Now, you guys might be looking at this blogpost's title and saying to yourselves...huh? What the heck is a beauty tray? Honestly it is a very unofficial term I made up just for the sake of this post. But, basically, I did get a new 'tray' for my desk to stock my favorite beauty products and fragrances! And, naturally, I wanted to share it with you as part of my 'interior sharing' posts that have been going on lately. First with the marble table, and now this tray...

It is not a question that my obsession with beauty products, skincare, and fragrances has reached its ultimate peak. I just find something so rewarding about treating yourself to a product or fragrance after you've worked your butt off. It's just a beautiful, féminin sort of feeling. I love the look that the mirrored bottom gives, especially when there is a candle lit. I think it is just such a simple way to store items that you want to display at the same time. And, adding little plants or the vintage bottles with baby's breath gives it a romantic feel.

This gold tray is from World Market, and, considering how large it actually is, was so reasonably priced. I can't wait to put more trinkets on it and I will transport it with me no matter where my next 'beauty desk' is. Oh and yes that is another term. My desk isn't actually a working desk...it is basically a table that I turned into a little vanity table area. Sometimes I do work on it, but most of the time it's for doing makeup and layering on too many perfume scents...Anyway, I really hope you liked this! I think next up on the interiors wish list is wall prints. That might take a little bit just because it is such a commitment, but I can't wait to show you guys the ones I picked out. It's going to be great :") I hope you had a great week and let me know what your digging interior-wise right now!Xoxo,Christie

a new marble addition

Hi guys! I know I always update you on when I get something new interior-wise or just a piece that I'm really excited to share with you all...and, this weekend I got a new marble table! I am soooo in love, I seriously cannot stop staring at it. I have been moving it around a bit, but I have finally settled on putting it in a little empty corner I have in my room. These pictures were obviously taken before that happened. But, anyway, I can't wait to stack more magazines and books on it and style it to match the rest of my room.

In my last couple of blog posts I've been talking about my recent obsession with marble. I just think it's something so simple yet can amp up a room. I feel like you could put a dirty trash bag on marble and it will still look elegant and so chic (that was a poor example huh).

Also, as you might happen to see on my Instagram feed, I've been really liking pops of red. Every store I go into there is so much red, orange, and pink (unfortunately I don't think I could ever do pink) but it's making me feel so inspired! Like marble, I think red can be such a nice, chic color when done in the right textures.

The table was from Tjmaxx (similar linked)--I was so happy at how affordable it was. My clothing rack is from The Little Deer, and the perfume that I have been really enjoying lately is by Maison Margiela fragrances. They are such a beautiful brand! And the hoop earrings are by & Other Stories, just in case you guys were curious!

Let me know what you guys think! I feel like buying one piece of furniture can just totally change your space up. I just feel like you always have to keep it updated and fresh, especially with a space that you're living in for a while. It will make you feel so much more empowered about the cozy vibe you have created!

desk series

Hi guys! I wanted to share a couple of photographs of my desk because it is my literal favorite thing about my room. I honestly don't know what it is--perhaps because of the collection of beauty products or just the lightweight, delicate nature about it especially when sunlight filters in and casts a special glow, but I just love it. My desk is from Ikea and, like I discussed in my last blogpost, I definitely want to cover it in a marble pattern soon but for right now I am appreciating the wood texture. I also spray-painted that mirror from black to white and got a chair from Tjmaxx and threw a fur throw on it to make it extra comfy. I wanted to create an inspiring space that would make me look forward to doing my makeup because...I rarely look forward to doing my makeup.

Also, my desk is normally facing my window, but I just wanted to see what it would look like facing the wall. I absolutely love the look of it, but the layout of my room is tricky to work with, so I might have to move it back. But, it's fun to change it up and dream!

Anyway, I didn't want to do much writing here, I felt inspired to take some photos. Let me know what you guys think! Also I changed my theme! I am so happy with it. I literally said this the other day but I just really wanted something simple and more me...and the more I thought about it the more I wanted to do it. Really hope you guys like it too!

latest inspirations

Hi dears! So I wanted to make a little creative post today because I've been feeling unbelievably inspired lately. I have a sudden urge to change up my room a bit and make it more mature...mostly because...well...I think I'm maturing! And as you mature, your tastes obviously change and build and I find myself just wanting more quality over quantity, which I know is a concept we all hear all the time. I just feel more charged up, wanting even more simplicity than I usually do, and having a passion towards art like I never really have before. I've always been an admirer of art and film photographs (obviously) and Parisian style, but the difference I find in myself now is that I want to act upon it, rather than dream and look on. And I thought what is better way to than to organize my thoughts into some mood boards!

With that said, I do want to change up my room a bit, like I said before. I want to cover my desk in a white marble pattern (I found a Youtube tutorial and you can literally buy marble-like textures and glue it to your desk). I have a gold tray to store all my beauty/fragrance products because my desk has become a little bit of a mess of 'em. I'm going to hang up some wall prints above my bed that I picked out from Etsy (I just need to print them out at Staples and frame them and hang them...uye it will be bit of a process). Some of the prints are fashion inspired and some are just plain ol' nostalgic. And just little touches here and there, like organizing my books and investing in some great fashion books for a future coffee table. Is it weird that coffee table aesthetics really make me excited?
I also added some other things, like that crazy gold mirror...obviously I don't want a mirror that insane, but I've always wanted a gold-framed mirror for when I have a little makeup vanity or to hang against a wall. Again, future goals people.

I've been super obsessed with marble lately and also just really nice, light wood textures. I've also been loving furs (not real ones) and other textures that just really can spice up any space. I've been eyeing some marble book ends so I can actually have my favorite books on my desk without having to lean against something that is unstable. I feel like I'm maturing in the way that I really want to try new things, add something different to make it even more home-y yet maybe sort of trendy.

And, of course, my skincare obsession continues, which is why I had to add them in every set. Not that I still don't absolutely love my St. Ives or Proactiv ;-) But anyway, that's really all! Just wanted to share with you the subtle improvements I want to make within the next 3 months. Right in time for a new, Spring look! It'll just freshen things up a bit. I've been in this apartment for almost a year so I feel like it's only necessary, especially since I haven't changed a thing at all. I'm also thinking about getting a new theme for this blog, since I've had it for way more than a year! Again just something fresh. What do you guys think? What have you been obsessing over?

new house plants

Hi guys! So yesterday, as you can probably guess from the title of this blogpost, I bought new plants for my room/apartment! I went to Union Square Market before it is taken up by Christmas booths, and went to my favorite plant section and picked out a couple of new babies for my collection. I don't know what it is, but buying new plants literally makes me happy on the inside. I also get sick of plants easily (I know...that doesn't even make sense...but I do). I bought 3 plants and so I decided to shake up my room a little bit, re-arrange some things, and add my new plants!

I ended up getting mostly succulents, one big collection and one little guy (who I named Antonio) and that one medium-sized plant that literally looks like a bush of succulents. I'm so sorry I don't know his exact name! Honestly I don't know if he has a different name from the others. I am pretty positive they are all succulents.

I'm probably going to water them every week, or maybe less because I tend to over water my plants. I also like to leave them out in the sunlight on my window sill when the light comes in during the morning hours. Hopefully these will stick with me through the winter! I really love their colors and just how they liven my space up.

And that's all! Today is Sunday and I'm listening to Christmas music and about to start on homework for the rest of the day. How excited is everyone for Thanksgiving and the holiday season? I'm seriously too excited. I definitely want to do a video in where I decorate my room for Christmas...but we have to wait for Thanksgiving to pass first hehe!

making your home with homee

Hello friends! So as most of you know I moved to my own apartment in New York City in May, and though it's been great, there are definitely struggles when it comes to decorating! I absolutely treasure having my own space...but, it can be tricky when finding affordable furniture that you actually love and want to use in your home. The lovely team over at Homee reached out to me and asked if I wanted to do a little decorating that was completely my style and wouldn't make me cry while clutching my wallet. Obviously, I could not resist...

Homee is an app that you can download onto your smartphone, and from there, you get matched up with a really nice and helpful designer (I had Adam--sweetest person in the world)! All your designer asks is to see pictures of the space your working with (for me it was mostly my living room and a bit of my actual room) and what your style is. They give you a little survey on the types of styles you love (I got a little of industrial vintage boho) and from there they ask what you're looking for, etc.

The living room is an area I've been struggling with--I didn't pick out that couch, it was basically handed down to me since it was cheap and comfy, and every time I look at it I feel a little uninspired. I definitely want to have a new couch that is more my style for when I move in with my man, but for now it will work! Also it doesn't help that this room doesn't get any light (which is why this picture is a bit grainy). So, for the living room, I told my designer I'd definitely like some prints for the wall, a plant or two, and just some accessories to spice it up and make it more cozy.

As you can see, I got those gorgeous 2 white prints (the other one I got from Urban) to start my collection. Also, spy that fig tree in the right picture. I absolutely love the green it adds to the space, plants can seriously make a difference! Though the print wall is just getting started, I love how it looks already. It just really adds that umpf.

Last but not least, I told Adam that I really wanted a rug for my room. I love getting out of bed and just feeling a nice fabric instead of hard wood, especially when I'm sleepy and grumpy. He completely matched my style with this beautiful fur-inspired shag (not real fur, we wouldn't want that!!!)

I seriously love how chic it is--I'll definitely end up keeping these pieces for my next abode! But for right now, I really have to thank the team over at Homee for making my space really feel more like home, and making my living room a great space rather than an empty one. I still have a blanket + other print coming along, but I am so happy with the pieces I've been able to work with so far. Such a fast, easy, and nice experience.

If you are struggling with decorating your house/apartment, I genuinely recommend Homee cause it is just the perfect little app to get you started!

Of course I will keep you guys updated on how I'm transforming my space! It definitely takes time and patience, but thank you guys for all your lovely comments about my apartment. It seriously means the world every time I see one, and I feel inspired again!

the room tour

Hello everybody! As many of you probably know by now, I moved to my own apartment in NYC. And though it's literally the second week of me being here, I already shoved in IKEA furniture, plants, and candles to make my space as 'me' as possible in a short amount of time. Basically, I wanted it to feel like home. And, like my previous room when I lived with my parents, I have my bed without a headboard, a desk area, cacti, and tons of Anthropologie candles and vintage pictures to complete my space and make it feel cozy. Without further ado, here's a peak into how I decorated it so far. Descriptions underneath to come.

The room as a whole...

INSPIRATION: crisp, all white. vintage photos. rose-gold touches. tons of greenery. old lightbulbs. fluffy white carpets. rustic.

This is obviously the area where I blog, sleep, and cuddle with my love. The nightstands are raw wood surfaced (from TJmaxx) and I wanted to keep my bed all white because it's always so cozy and clean. I tacked some of my favorite images from Tumblr above my bed to keep me inspired and to fill up that empty wall space. Yes, my walls are cream, but I don't really have any plans to change them to white because they basically look white (the editing made them more yellow-toned, I swear).

The beauty area...

INSPIRATION: wood. candles. perfumes & lotions. fern. vanity. mod chair.

Instead of having an actual cluttered desk (like I had in my dorm and at home) I wanted a space where I could sit down and do my makeup in the morning...I stayed at a hotel and they had a legit vanity for me to do my makeup in, which then made me obsessed and wanting it ever since. This is where I can feel like a 'princess', but hopefully a rustic one (hahahaha). But seriously all jokes aside, I love this space and how it's right in front of the window which always makes for perfect makeup lighting.

The rest...
I still have touches to add. I have a rose-gold clothing rack that will be coming in the next 2 weeks and some matching, wire bins to store things. So it's not completely done! But I will be filming a video on my Youtube when it is to show you my room in it's entirety :-)

Here are some seriously genuine photos of me (without makeup, absolutely chilling in my private zone) because I wanted my room to be a place where I can read, embarrassingly dance, and be joyous because this has turned into my happy place.

Wearing: Sea Gypsies lace playsuit. Free People lieutenant hat.
